Mentoring

Mentoring

The vision of this program is to match recipients with SPSF board members and community volunteers. It means a lot for a mentor to encourage the recipient. Sometimes this is the only person the recipient has to praise him/her.

They may also “coach” the mentee through issues such as time management, budgeting, interviewing and parenting. The coaches may contact recipients several times a month and also allow the recipients to contact them when needed. Recipients receive guidance about community resources and short “coaching” sessions at their interview, but the mentoring program will give them that information and support on a continual basis instead of once a semester. The main job of the coach will be to act as a liaison to connect the single parent with resources in the community.

Volunteer to be a mentor for a semester. Call 470-343-6171.
