2007 National data and what does an "average" single parent look like? |
Statistics In recognition of the challenges facing single parent families in Arkansas, it is our hope that community leaders will attract volunteers and resources to provide scholarships so single parents in Crawford and Sebastian counties can complete their postsecondary education and obtain employment. Single parents with postsecondary degrees have better chances for promotion and advancement in their careers than those with only a high school diploma. |
“My dedication to school has not only changed my life but it has changed my children’s lives and perspective on education. That alone is worth every one of the hardships that I endure. This organization is not only helping their recipients with financial obligations but also is indirectly teaching their children the value of a college education. This is the true payoff. In helping single parents, SPSF is instilling strong values of the importance of education in their children’s minds which, in turn, gives them the confidence and determination one day to follow in their parent’s footsteps. Statistically, the low-income, single-parent household bracket is growing at an alarming rate in America. I believe that this organization is taking a hands-on approach to solving this crisis.” Lisa |
